When you’re hiking the trails of the Himalayas it’s sometimes tempting to look at mountain villages as quaint, little glimpses of a frozen past instead of real communities of people trying to make their way into modernity without compromising their cultural traditions. This something that the Basa Village Foundations aims to address among the people in the area around the mountain village of Basa, Nepal. Inhabited by the Raji people, Basa village supplies all of the people who staff and run a mountaineering company called Adventure Geo Treks. Jeff Rasley fell in love with the idea of helping this village develop infrastructure and choose their own path to modernity – so much so that he takes massive leaps to raise funds and build a tribe for that purpose. We are about to hear from his conversation with Mitch Russo how a leader’s passion makes all the difference in strengthening a tribe’s commitment to change the world.
